Female Athlete of the Year – Jessy Roy, Basketball
Roy, a fifth-year point guard, picks up her third career Athlete of the Year title, becoming only the fifth person to be named Female Athlete of the Year three times. This year, she was simply the Gaiters' maestro. She was named a First Team All-Star this year, giving her four all-star awards in five years, and was also the league's Defensive Player of the Year. She led the Quebec conference in three statistical categories, (assists per game, assist-to-turnover ratio, free-throw percentage), and was eighth on the league scoring list at 11.1 points per game. Defensively, she averaged 2.0 steals and 4.3 defensive rebounds per game, while being responsible for defending the opposition's top player.

Male Athlete of the Year – Josh Crone, Lacrosse
Crone, a Business major in his fifth year with the Gaiters becomes the second straight lacrosse player to gain at least a share of this award, following Mike Dube last year. This year, he led the Gaiters to their first-ever Baggataway Cup championship .He anchored the Gaiters' attack line, and led the East Division with 29 goals in nine games. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association, as well as the top Attackman and an all-star. Crone was also the MVP of the Baggataway Cup tournament, as he scored 18 points in four playoff games.

Female Freshman of the Year – Katie Ramm, Hockey
Ramm, 18, is the first Female Freshman of the Year ever to have only played Women's Hockey. The Ottawa native had an immediate impact on the Polar Bears' lineup in 2011-12. The flashy centre immediately broke into the top line, was voted an alternate captain, and led the Bears in scoring this year with 27 points in 21 games, highlighted by a seven-point weekend at the Burlington, Vt., tournament and a hat trick against Rothesay Netherwood.

Male Freshman of the Year – Max Grouette, Rugby
Grouette, 18, broke into a veteran Gaiters' front pack this year, and was named the Quebec university Rugby Union rookie of the year for 2011. A multi-sport athlete in his hometown of Surrey, B.C., he made four starts at lock this year, and was named the Gaiters' Man of the Match in the last game of the regular season, at Sherbrooke. His massive frame and ferocity helped the Gaiters dominate in the scrums this season.

Male Academic Student-Athlete Award – Matt McLean, Basketball
McLean, a second-year forward, has been an impact player on the court and in the classroom. A student in the Williams School of Business, the Ottawa native posted an 80% average in his first year, earning him Academic All-Canadian honours and a spot on the Academic Honour Roll. He also won the Williams Scholarship in Business in his first year. On the court, he played 12 minutes per game last year, averaging 2.1 rebounds and 1.9 points, and won his team's Most Improved Player award.

Female Academic Student-Athlete Award – Lois Boateng, Rugby
Boateng, a second-year full back has been a pillar of the Gaiter Women's Rugby team, on and off the field, since arriving at Bishop's in 2010. The Montreal native was an Academic All-Canadian in 2010-11, and was named to the Academic Honour Roll, after posting an 89% average. This year, she has gone one better, posting a 91% average last fall. She was just as impressive on the field, as led the Gaiters' back line, making numerous try-saving tackles, until her season was cut short by a knee injury.

Ray Almond Award (Contribution to Bishop’s Athletics) – Christine Murphy
The Ray Almond Award is given annually to a dedicated member of the Bishop’s Athletic Community who rises above the expected to deliver an invaluable service for Gaiter Athletics. Christine Murphy has been a fixture around the Bishop's campus since 2000, first for five years as a women's basketball player and since then as an Assistant Coach. She won the Nancy Knowlton Award for dedication in her final two seasons as a player, and that spirit continued as she moved into the coaching ranks as a volunteer assistant. In addition to her coaching duties, she has spent countless hours coordinating the Gaiters' "Small Ball" program, perhaps the Gaiters' single most important community endeavour.
