1982-83 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
National Champions
The 1982-83 women's basketball team went undefeated in league play and then swept through the CIAU National Championships with a perfect 3-0 record to claim Bishop's University's first Canadian crown.
They opened the Nationals with a 77-40 victory over UNB, downed Brock 60-42 in the semi-finals and they upended Victoria 64-49 in the title game.
Andrea Blackwell was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player and joined teammate Lynn Polson on the All-Canadian team.
The team was coached by Wayne Hussey and team members included Andrea Blackwell, Lynn Polson, Wendy Verrecchia, Lisa Moore, Bonnie MacNaughton, Cathy Logue, Fiona Seymour, Senj Temple, Wendy Waters and Joanne Gordon.
