1983-84 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
National Champions
The 1983-84 women's basketball team suffered two rare league losses during the regular season but that didn't stop them from sweeping through the National Tournament and claiming their second consecutive CIAU National crown.
The Gaiters pounded Manitoba 89-57 in the first round, beat Brock 60-42 in the semis and defeated Winnipeg 70-62 in the finals.
Andrea Blackwell and Lynn Polson shared the tournament's Most Valuable Player Award and the pair were also named to the All-Canadian team.
Head coach Wayne Hussey was selected as the CIAU Coach of the Year, the second time in his illustrious career that he was so honoured.
Members of the team included Andrea Blackwell, Lynn Polson, Wendy Verrecchia, Wendy Waters, Joanne Gordon, Michelle O'Keefe, Lisa Moore, Fiona Seymour, Alison Booth and Kelly Tucker.
