GARY CHOWN
BA '74
Football, Hockey
Gary was indeed one of the finest football players to ever don the Gaiter uniform. An all-conference selection three times, Gary added to his personal laurels in 1971 when he was chosen as an all-star on both the offensive and defensive units!
A two-time CIAU All-Canadian (’71, ’72), Gary was a territorial draft pick of the Montreal Alouettes where he enjoyed a distinguished five-year playing career that included two Grey Cup championships (’74, ’75).
Gary was also a stalwart defenceman on the Gaiters hockey team and has remained active in minor hockey as a coach. Gary has been a very strong supporter of Bishop’s Athletic and Alumni events and has returned on several occasions as a guest coach for football training camps.
Gary resides in Richmond Hill, Ontario with his wife Linda and has two children, Matthew and Hayley.
