RUSSELL BLINCO

BSc ‘31
Hockey, Football

By all accounts, Russ Blinco was Bishop’s finest hockey player. He also played football and was considered an all-round athlete and a gentleman.

Russ went on to star for the Montreal Maroons where he led them to a Stanley Cup in 1935. Members of the National Hockey League’s Board of Governors referred to him as “the greatest all-round hockey player” of his time.

Russ retired to Bedford, Quebec where he was a strong community member.

He passed away in 1982.
