HALIFAX – The Gaiters fell 64-59 to the Saint Mary's Huskies in their first contest of the Dalhousie Centennial Tournament.
How it Happened:
Saint Mary's grabbed a quick lead to start the game. They were up 24-12 after the first quarter, despite Bishop's late push and 7 points by Marie-Evardine Berrouette. The Gaiters played stronger in the second frame, taking the quarter 14-10 and closing SMU's halftime lead to 34-26. The Gaiters and Huskies traded baskets in the third quarter, SMU had the 49-41 advantage with ten minutes to play. Bishop's came within two points with under two minutes to play in the fourth frame, but Saint Mary's held on to the lead to win 64-59.
