SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters women's basketball team went 2-0 at their Christmas Tournament after defeating the No. 10 Ryerson Rams 75-61 in Mitchell Gym. The No.2 McGill Martlets took down the UNB Varsity Reds earlier in the day to claim the tournament championship.
Bishop's had a hot start; they led 20-15 after the first quarter. The Gaiters held their lead despite a strong push by Ryerson late in the second quarter led by Sofia Paska. Paska put up 16 of her 27 points in the first half. Bishop's had the 42-31 lead at halftime.
The Gaiters once again had a strong start to the third frame, with back-to back three pointers from
Maude Archambault (Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Que./Collège Montmorency) and
Ashley Milhomme (Repentigny, Que./Collège Montmorency). Bishop's led 64-48 after three quarters.
Ryerson cut the Gaiters lead to 14 in the fourth quarter but that was the closest the Rams got. Bishop's took the contest 75-61.
Ashley Milhomme (Repentigny, Que./Collège Montmorency) led the Gaiters with 16 points. Sofia Paska had 27 points and 6 rebounds for the Rams.

UNB was led by Laura Kaye, she had 17 points nine and rebounds.
