SHERBROOKE, Que. – Richelle Gregoire scored 12 of her game-high 24 points during an 18-2 run to open the fourth quarter and lead the Concordia Stingers past the Bishop's Gaiters 61-53 on Wednesday night in Lennoxville in RSEQ University women's basketball action.
 
The run came on the heels of an 18-4 Bishop's run to close out the third stanza and pace the hosts to a 46-37 lead.
 
The Gaiters (7-15, 2-13 RSEQ) got off to a sluggish start early in the game. They trailed 15-5 after the first quarter and 29-20 at halftime. The third was a different story; they played one of their best quarters of the season and outscored the Stingers 26-8 in the frame to grab the 46-37 advantage.  It was one they could not hold onto and Gregoire, (Ste. Therese, Que.) despite picking her fourth foul up with a little under four minutes remaining, paced the Stingers (14-11, 7-8 RSEQ) comeback.
 
Gregoire was one of four Stingers in double figures; she finished with 24 points on 7-13 shooting and a 7-8 performance from the charity stripe.  Marilyse Roy-Viau (Mirabel, Que.) scored 12 points, Caroline Task (Dorval, Que) had 11 and Jazlin Barker (Toronto) netted 10.
 
On the Gaiters side it was Ashley Milhomme (Repentigny, Que. /Collège Montmorency) leading the way with 12 points on 5-9 shooting.  Edith Noblecilla (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Santo Domingo de Guzmain) scored 11. Mara Marchizotti (Buenos Aires, Argentina)  chipped in with 10 and grabbed 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
 
The Stingers connected on 20 of 59 shots while Bishop's went 20-60 from the floor. Concordia scored 30 points off of 25 Bishop's turnovers while the Gaiters were only able to net 16 points off 21 Stinger giveaways.
 
The loss wraps up the home season for the Gaiters who will miss the RSEQ playoffs for the fifth straight year.
 
Bishop's will head to Montreal to face the UQAM Citadins (13-11, 7-8) on Saturday in their regular season finale.  Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. and can be seen live at www.tvgo.ca/uqam/.
