COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Gaiters converted twice on the power play to beat the Assiniboine Community College Cougars 2-1 on Thursday afternoon in ACHA National Championship action in Columbus, Ohio.    
 
Stephanie Cunningham (Markham, Ont./Bill Crothers) opened the scoring for the Gaiters with a tip in off a blistering shot by Jessica Briere (Sherbrooke, Que. ) on the power play.  Bishop's led 1-0 after the first period.  The Cougars tied it up midway through the second stanza but a quick penalty by Assiniboine gave the Gaiters the man-advantage and eventually the lead.  Jessica Belanger (Sherbrooke) scored what would be the winning goal on the power play. Bishop's held off the Assiniboine offense, in the third period, for the 2-1 victory.   
 
With the win over Assiniboine, the Gaiters have won their pool and punched their tickets to the semifinals on Sat, Mar. 17 at 1:45 p.m.  They will play the winner of Pool A.

Bishop's is next in action on Fri, Mar. 16^th at 4:45 p.m. against the sixth seed in the West, Loyola Chicago.
