COLUMBUS, Ohio –
Kayla LeTouzel (L'Orignal, Ont./St. Mary's) put up two goals to propel the Gaiters women's hockey team over Loyola-Chicago, 5-0, in ACHA D2 National Championship action in Columbus, Ohio.
Freshman,
Jessica Belanger (Sherbrooke) opened the scoring on the power play for Bishop's late in the first period. Bishop's had the 1-0 lead after the first twenty minutes.
Arianne Charette (Sainte-agathe-des-monts, Que. /The Winchendon School ) scored for the Gaiters in the second stanza to increase the Gaiters lead over Loyola Chicago to 2-0 after two periods of play. Bishop's controlled the third period, they scored three goals in 10 minutes to solidify the 5-0 win. LeTouzel scored twice, once on the power play and
Lauren MacCulloch (Toronto, Ont. ) scored once. Netminder,
Veronica Todd (Cumberland, Maine) got the shutout on the night.
