Patriotes Steal Season Opener on Coulter Field

SHERBROOKE, Que.  – Gabrielle Lambert, the keeper for the UQTR Patriotes made 10 saves to secure a 1-0 victory over the Bishop's Gaiters on Wednesday night in RSEQ university women's soccer action.
 
After an electrifying start from the Gaiters in their season opener, the Patriotes scored on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute to take the lead in front of a spirited Bishop's home crowd. The Gaiters were awarded a penalty kick in the 75th minute that was denied by Lambert to preserve her shutout and victory.

The Gaiters will head to Quebec City to take on the No. 3 Laval Rouge et Or on Friday night at 6 p.m. Last season Bishop's fell 2-0 and 5-0 to the Rouge et Or.
