MONTREAL – The Bishop's women's basketball team had a hot start on Thursday night, they led by 25 points in the second quarter, but were not able to hold off the UQAM Citadins as the Gaiters fell 78-73 on the road.
Marie Berrouette (Montreal, Que./Dawson College) led Bishop's with a double-double, 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) led all scorers with 21 points and
Maude Archambault (St-Augustine-de-Desmaures, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) was the only other Gaiter in double figures with 17 points and 7 rebounds.
Veronique Boivin led the way for the Citadins with 20 points.
The Gaiters got off to a quick start, they led 24-4 after the first frame. At the half three Gaiters were already in double-figures with Siciliano leading the way with 13 points. They went to the locker room up 44-32. In the third it was UQAM's turn to get hot as they scored 22 points to Bishop's 9 and took the lead. UQAM led 54-53 with ten minutes left to play. UQAM held on to their comeback in the fourth quarter and took the contest 78-73.

The Gaiters will host the Citadins in the backend of the home-and-home on Saturday night in Lennoxville at 6 p.m.
