MCKINNEY, Tx. – The Bishop's Gaiters storybook run at the 2019 ACHA Women's Hockey D2 Nationals ended in the semifinal on Saturday. The Minot State Beavers beat them 6-2 in at the StarCenter McKinney.
Minot State jumped on the Gaiters late in the first period, scoring a pair of goals on rebounds for a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. They doubled up their advantage in the second with two more tallies for a 4-0 lead heading into the final frame.
Bishop's refused to roll over. They jumped on the Beavers early in the third.
Jess Belanger (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain College-Lennoxville) scored her third of the tournament and Kaite Locke added a second Gaiter score 46 seconds later to cut the deficit in half just 2:12 into the stanza.
The Gaiters pushed on but were not able to score a third. Minot State put the game all but out of reach on a controversial goal on the power play with 2:11 remaining. They added their sixth of the morning just 32 seconds later to make the final 6-2.

The loss ends the Gaiters 2018-19 season, while Minot State moves onto play Assiniboine College in the championship on Sunday.
