LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The UQAM Citadins outrebounded Bishop's by 12 including six more on the offensive end as they outlasted the Gaiters 75-62 on Bell Let's Talk Night in Mitchell Gym on Saturday. The visitors led from mid-way through the first frame and never relinquished it.
Rookie sensation
Jael Kabunda (Montreal, Que./College Montmorency) scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) scored 16 and
Jennifer Louis (Montreal, Que./) 10 to round out the Bishop's players in double figures.
The loss drops Bishop's to 5-4 in the RSEQ season while UQAM improves to 5-6 with the win.
UQAM's largest lead, 17 points, came at the start of the third quarter however the Gaiters were able to trim that to just three midway through the final stanza. It was as close as Bishop's got and UQAM scored the final 10 points of the game to close it out 75-62.
Clara Blachier scored 19, Veronique Boivin 17 and Alexe Dufresne 14 in the win for the Citadins who split this weekend's the home-and-home with Bishop's.
The Gaiters now turn their attention to the Concordia Stingers (3-6) who lost twice to McGill this weekend. The foes play in Montreal on Thursday night and in Lennoxville on Saturday at 6 p.m.
