2021 SPECTATOR FAQs

Are all members of the public required to be fully vaccinated to attend Bishop's sporting events? 
  • Yes. Bishop's University enforces the provincial government's COVID-19 vaccination policy meaning any person who attends an event at any Bishop's University athletic facility is required to show the Quebec vaccine passport or other proof of full vaccination with photo identification.  
  • Spectators will be asked to confirm they are fully vaccinated and agree to comply with all Bishop's University Health and Safety Protocols. 
  • Members of the public are considered fully vaccinated only if they have received the full series (i.e., two doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) of a Health Canada or World Health Organization approved vaccine, or a combination of COVID-19 vaccines, and 14 calendar days have passed since the final dose. 
What do I have to show for admission to games? 
  • Members of the public attending athletic events at Bishop's University will be required to show their: 
    • Provincial vaccination receipt and photo ID  
    • Their hard copy ticket, mobile ticket, or printed ticket PDF, where applicable (football, basketball and hockey ONLY).
How do I get tickets? 
  • Those looking to attend a sporting event are encouraged to head to www.gaiters.ca/tickets to reserve their seats for football, basketball and hockey season, once they are available for sale. 
  • Football single game tickets will go on sale one week before each home game. 
Do Bishop's students get free tickets to the game? 
  • All current Bishop's students remain eligible for free tickets to all games. Football tickets will be available for pick-up in the Gaiters Boutique the week leading up to the game.   
  • Students must show proof of current enrolment/active BU student card in order to receive a ticket. 
  • Students are only able to receive one ticket for themselves, no exceptions will be made for this. 
  • Student cards alone will no longer be accepted as tickets. 
Can my child (12 and under) go to the game with me? 
  • Children 12 and under are permitted to attend games if accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. Children will require their own ticket. 

Do I have to wear a mask at sporting events? Can I take it off in my seat? 

  • Masks are strongly encouraged outdoors and are required at all times when indoors. 

Will the seats be socially distanced? 

  • Based on the September 30th Government of Quebec COVID-19 Press Conference, Bishop's University athletic venues with assigned seating, including Coulter Field, will no longer have to limit spectators and will be allowed to operate at full capacity, beginning October 8th.  
  • This means that seats will no longer be socially distanced. 
  • No standing room will be available. 

Will there be sanitizing stations at sporting events this year? 

  • Sanitizing stations will be available throughout Bishop's indoor venues and stadiums. Fans are also encouraged to bring their own sanitization products for convenient use throughout the game.

Is the box office open on game day? 

  • The box office at Coulter Field will be open on football, basketball and hockey game days 60 minutes prior to game time to handle spectator inquiries prior to the game. Those looking to purchase tickets for any of these Bishop's Gaiters events are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance at www.gaiters.ca/tickets. All current Bishop's students remain eligible for free tickets to all games. 

How do I get in and out of Coulter Field this season? 

  • Fans attending the game enter through the main gate located beside the stands on the South side of Coulter Field. Prior to entry, all spectators will be checked for proof of full vaccination and must show their ticket. 

Am I allowed to bring my pet to the game? 

  • Pets, including dogs, are prohibited inside any athletic facility at Bishop's University. This includes Coulter Field, Mitchell Gym, Jane and Eric Molson Arena and the John H. Price Sports Centre. 
  • Service animals are permitted. 

What am I allowed to bring into the game? 

  • Outside food and beverage will be permitted into Coulter Field. Security staff will inspect bags at the gate prior to entry to the stadium. Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited from entering all Bishop's University athletic facilities.  

Will there be food and beverage for sale at the stadium? 

  • A concession stand will be open behind the stands on the West side of the stadium for football games. 
  • A Tim Hortons is located on the upper level of the Sports Centre. 
  • Beer will also be available at select games and will be located inside the stadium next to the main gate.  

How will I pay for my food and beverage at Coulter Field this year? 

  • All patrons will be required to pay cash for beer and concessions. An ATM is located in the John H. Price Sports Centre. 
  • Tim Hortons accepts cash, debit and credit.

Is the Boutique open? 

  • The Gaiters Boutique is open from 12PM to 8PM Monday to Friday and on weekends from 12PM to 5PM. 

Will the seats be socially distanced? 

  • Based on the September 30th Government of Quebec COVID-19 Press Conference, Bishop's University athletic venues with assigned seating, including Coulter Field, will no longer have to limit spectators and will be allowed to operate at full capacity, beginning October 8th.

Do I have to wear a mask at Coulter Field even though it is outdoors? Can I take it off in my seat? 

  • Masks are strongly encouraged outdoors and are required at all times when indoors. 

Will washrooms and water be available? 

  • Porta potties will be available during games at Coulter Field behind the stands and along the concourse by the Sports Centre. Washrooms are also available inside the Sports Centre during regular operating hours.  

I like to stand and watch the game, am I able to do that? 

  • During the 2021 season, spectators will be asked to watch the game from their seats during the games. No standing will be permitted during the games. 

Is parking available at the stadium? 

  • For football, the Coulter Parking Lot is reserved for individuals who pre-purchased tickets online in advance of game day. Those wishing to park in this lot must show their tickets in order to be granted access to the lot. 
  • For all other events, complimentary parking is available across campus on weekends and is free after 5PM on weekdays.
