The Gaiters women's hockey team was at CEPSUM on Friday night to take on the Montreal Carabins. The Gaiters, who have had a strong start to their 2022-23 season, were looking to ride the positive momentum that they've had so far. The first 35 minutes were very quiet until the Gaiters found a late goal on the powerplay and took a 1-0 lead into the break. The third period was the complete opposite as the game seemed to open up and both teams exchanged blows. Bishop's got the first one to go up 2-0 and there were a few minutes of serenity before Montreal scored 2 goals just 18 seconds apart to knot it up at 2-2. The Gaiters responded just as fast and got the go-ahead goal to make it 3-2 right around the 10-minute mark. Montreal got another goal with just over 5 minutes remaining to tie the game once again, and off to overtime it went. A scoreless first OT frame sent us into a 3-on-3 second OT period, where the Carabins buried a nice play just 30 seconds in and took the game, 4-3. This moves the Gaiters to 2-1-1 on the season.

...Jamie Aspropotamitis opened the scoring, Neleh Vigneau Sargeant extended the lead and Catherine Berger-Dubé got the go-ahead goal

...Aglaé René de Cotret had another impressive game, stopping the first 30 shots she faced.

Next Up
The Gaiters will play their home-opener at Jane & Eric Molson Arena on Sunday, Nov.6th at 3:30PM. The Ottawa Gee-Gees are in town for that one.
