Fresh off of a huge win against the first-ranked Stingers, the Gaiters returned home for their 2022 finale against the McGill Martlets. The Gaiters were looking to feed on the energy that Friday night provided. The first period was quiet, with both teams creating pressure on the forecheck. The teams went to intermission tied at 1. The second period was more of the same, and the teams remained deadlocked – this time at 2 goals apiece. The Gaiters got a boost in the 3rd period when they broke the tie and took a 3-2 lead less than 2 minutes in. They added another about 5 minutes later, making it 4-2. This marks the second time in as many games that have finished with more than a 1-goal difference. To quote a happy head coach, Dominic Desmarais: "First three-game win streak in program history, first hat-trick in program history and Faith Miller (Oro-Medonte, Ont./Eastview S.S.) got her first U Sports win." The Gaiters will now head into the holiday break with a lot of momentum for the second half of their season. 

For Bishop's... 
… Neleh Vigneau Sargeant (Dartmouth, N.S./Lockview H.S.) led the way, getting her first hat-trick in her young U SPORTS career 
… Captain Marie-Camille Théorêt added a goal and an assist in the game 
… In her first start this season, goalie Faith Miller (Oro-Medonte, Ont./Eastview S.S.) had 27 saves in the win 
… Maude Pépin continued her hot streak with 2 assists in this one 

Next Up 
That wraps up the 2022 calendar year for the Gaiters. They'll travel to Montreal to take on the Carabins on Jan. 8th, 2023 when the season resumes. Puck drop for that game is set for 2pm.
