In the RSEQ regular season finale, the Gaiters looked to end the season the way they started - in the win column - on the path to the post-season.
After knocking down thirteen 3-pointers in the first half, the Gaiters never trailed in the contest and grabbed a 78-65 victory over the Citadins, securing a home semi-final game in the process.
The Gaiters went three for three from outside the arc to take a quick 9-0 lead to open the game. Bishop's continued to find the basket, holding a 25-19 lead after the first quarter.
The second stanza was more of the same from the Gaiters who shot an identical 60% from both field goal and three-point range while holding UQAM to just 10 points. The home team led 51-29 at the halftime break.
Both teams struggled to score in the third quarter but the Gaiters maintained an advantage after 30 minutes of play - 62-48.
UQAM decreased the deficit in the final quarter, but the Gaiters never relinquished their lead, taking the game by a 78-65 final.
Bishop's finishes the regular season in second in the RSEQ standings with an 8-4 record and will host the Laval Rouge et Or in an RSEQ semi-final on Wednesday March 23.
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) led the way for the Gaiters with 20 points, nine assists and two steals.
Jennifer Louis (Montreal, Que./Cegep Edouard-Montpetit) (15),
Jael Kabunda (Montreal, Que./College Montmorency) (14) and
Victoria Gauna (Mendoza, Argentina/) (13) were the other Gaiters to finish the night in double-digits.
