LENNOXVILLE, Que. –
Victoria Gauna's (Mendoza, Argentina) fourth consecutive double-double paced the Bishop's Gaiters to a convincing 80-51 victory over the McGill Martlets on Thursday night in Lennoxville despite the hosts only having seven players see the court.
All seven of the Gaiters played 15 minutes led by rookie
Eve Atchampone (Trois-Rivieres, QC/CEGEP St-Jean) who logged 37.
Bishop's jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back. They were up 22-9 after the first quarter and 40-30 at halftime. A tight third quarter gave Bishop's a 12-point advantage heading into the final stanza where they outscored the Martlets 26-9 for the 80-51 victory.
Gauna had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Kalina Alexander-Renaud (Montreal, QC) scored 20,
Marianne Boithias (Noirétable, FRA) had 17 to go along with nine rebounds and six assists and Jasmin Martel rounded out the Gaiters in double figures with 10.
Seyna Diggs scored 12 and Emma-Jane Scotten 10 in the losing cause.
Bishop's out-rebounded McGill 39-25 and was a perfect 13-13 from the charity stripe.
The Gaiters improve to 2-3 while McGill falls to 2-3.
Bishop's will wrap up the first semester on Thursday, Nov. 30 in Montreal against the Concordia Stingers (3-1) at 6 p.m.

Victoria Gauna (Mendoza, Argentina) a propulsé les Gaiters de Bishop's à une victoire convaincante de 80 à 51 sur les Martlets de McGill jeudi soir à Lennoxville, malgré le fait que seuls sept joueurs locaux aient foulé le parquet.
Les sept joueurs des Gaiters ont tous joué 15 minutes, avec la recrue
Eve Atchampone (Trois-Rivieres, QC/CEGEP St-Jean) en tête avec 37 minutes de jeu.
Bishop's a pris un avantage rapide et n'a jamais regardé en arrière. Ils étaient en avance de 22 à 9 après le premier quart et de 40 à 30 à la mi-temps. Un troisième quart serré a donné aux Gaiters un avantage de 12 points en entrant dans le dernier quart, où ils ont surpassé les Martlets 26-9 pour la victoire de 80 à 51.
