Gabrielle Santerre (Sherbrooke, QC/Champlain-Lennoxville) extended her league lead in points by tallying twice on Friday night as the Bishop's Gaiters topped the McGill Martlets 4-1.
Majorie Bolduc (Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce, QC/Champlain-Lennoxville) and
Regan Garreau (Carlton Place, ON/John Abbott College) also found the back of the net for Bishop's as they extend their win streak to three games.
Aglaé René de Cotret (Rouyn-Noranda, QC, Champlain-Lennoxville) was between the pipes and made 20 saves in the victory, her fourth of the year.
Bishop's jumped out to a 1-0 advantage when Santerre scored late in the first period. Bolduc double the lead 7:18 into the second. McGill responded on the power play just over two minutes later to cut the lead to 2-1. With Bishop's on the power play captain
Marie-Camille Théorêt (Magog, Que., Champlain-Lennoxville) found Santerre in the final minutes to give the Gaiters a 3-1 edge heading to the final stanza. In the third Garreau scored her third of the year to put the game out of reach and propel Bishop's to a 4-1 win.
The Gaiters improve to 11-6-0 (22 points) and remain tied with the Montreal Carabins for second in the RSEQ. McGill falls to 4-12-1 (9 points) and sits in sixth place in the conference.
Bishop's is back in action on Sunday when they travel to Concordia to face the undefeated and nation's top-ranked team at 3 p.m.
