LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters women's hockey team was a triple-overtime goal away from punching their ticket to the 2024 U SPORTS Nationals a year ago.  They step back on the ice to start the 2024-25 campaign on Friday in Montreal against the Carabins, the team that ended their season a year ago. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
 
Ready to Roll
Led by 2024 U SPORTS Most Outstanding Player and Rookie of the Year Gabrielle Santerre (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville), Bishop's posted a 5-0 record against university competition in the pre-season.  U SPORTS leading goal scorer Maude Pépin (Pont-Rouge, QC, Cégep Limoilou) is also back for Valerie Bois' squad.
 
Between the pipes Éricka Gagnon (Québec, QC, Cégep Limoilou ) was sensational in the playoffs, she returns as does veteran goaltender Aglaé de Cotret (Rouyn-Noranda, QC, Champlain College Lennoxville).
 
Newcomers
A pair of Cegep stars highlight the incoming Gaiters class.  Noémie Fontaine (Gatineau, QC, Cégep Limoilou ) from Limoilou is a "force tranquille" according to Gaiters' head coach Valerie Bois while Naomi Côté (Sherbrooke, QC, Champlain College Lennoxville) moves once locker room down as the former Champlain Cougars' captain now dons the purple and silver.
 
New Look Schedule
With Ottawa and Carleton bolting for the OUA, the RSEQ is made up of four teams.  Alongside Bishop's are the defending U SPOTRS National Champion Concordia Stingers, the Carabins who won bronze at Nationals a year ago and the McGill Martlets.  The quartet will play each other seven times during the regular season before heading to a best of three semifinal and final.

PRÉVISION DE LA SAISON : Le hockey féminin des Gaiters revient sur la glace vendredi

LENNOXVILLE, Qué. - L'équipe de hockey féminin des Gaiters de Bishop's n'était qu'à un but en triple prolongation de décrocher son billet pour les Championnats nationaux U SPORTS de 2024.  Elles retournent sur la glace pour commencer la campagne 2024-25 vendredi à Montréal contre les Carabins, l'équipe qui a mis fin à leur saison il y a un an. La mise au jeu aura lieu à 19 heures.
 
Prêts à démarrer
Sous la direction de Gabrielle Santerre (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville), Joueuse de l'année et recrue de l'année 2024 U SPORTS, Bishop's a affiché une fiche de 5-0 contre la compétition universitaire en pré-saison.  La meilleure buteuse de U SPORTS, Maude Pépin, est également de retour au sein de l'équipe de Valérie Bois.
 
La gardienne de but Éricka Gagnon a été sensationnelle lors des séries éliminatoires. Elle est de retour, tout comme Aglaé de Cotret.
 
Recrues
Deux vedettes du Cégep sont à surveiller.  Noémie Fontaine, de Limoilou, est une « force tranquille » selon l'entraineur-chef des Gaiters, Valérie Bois, tandis que Naomi Côté, ancienne capitaine des Cougars de Champlain, porte maintenant le mauve et l'argent.
 
Nouveau calendrier
Avec le départ d'Ottawa et de Carleton pour les SUO, le RSEQ est composé de quatre équipes.  Aux côtés de Bishop's se trouvent les Stingers de Concordia, champions nationaux U SPOTRS en titre, les Carabins, qui ont remporté la médaille de bronze aux championnats nationaux il y a un an, et les Martlets de McGill.  Les quatre équipes s'affronteront sept fois au cours de la saison régulière avant de participer à une demi-finale et à une finale au meilleur des trois manches.
