LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Newly minted RSEQ MVP Victoria Gauna (Mendoza, Argentina) scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds to propel the Bishop's Gaiters back to the RSEQ Championship game after their 63-59 semifinal victory over the McGill Martlets on Wednesday night in Lennoxville.
 
Fellow RSEQ all-star Lauire Lafleur scored 15 and Eve Atchampone (Trois-Rivière, QC/Cégep de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu) chipped in with 12 in the victory for Bishop's who move onto face the Laval Rouge et Or for the second straight season in Quebec City on Saturday.
 
Daniella Mbengo led all scores with 18 points in the losing cause.
 
The game was tight the entire way with Bishop's trying to pull away down the stretch, but McGill clawing their way back to within striking distance. In all the lead changed nine times and was tied on seven occasions before Bishop's ultimately held off the Marlets and punch their ticket back to the RSEQ Championship.
 
Saturday's contest in Quebec City, will be Bishop's third consecutive trip to the title game.  They will look to win the RSEQ crown for the first time since 2004. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

Les Gaiters battent les Martlets en demi-finale du RSEQ

LENNOXVILLE, Qué. - La nouvelle joueuse la meilleure du RSEQ, Victoria Gauna (Mendoza, Argentina), a marqué 13 points et a eu 11 rebonds pour propulser les Gaiters de Bishop's au match de championnat du RSEQ après leur victoire de 63-59 en demi-finale contre les Martlets de McGill, mercredi soir à Lennoxville.
 
Une autre étoile du RSEQ, Lauire Lafleur, a marqué 15 points et Eve Atchampone (Trois-Rivière, QC/Cégep de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu) a ajouté 12 points dans la victoire des Gaiters de Bishop's, qui affronteront le Rouge et Or de Laval pour la deuxième saison consécutive à Québec, samedi.
 
Daniella Mbengo a été la meilleure marqueuse avec 18 points dans la cause perdue.
 
Le match a été serré tout au long de la partie, Bishop's essayant de prendre de l'avance en fin de match, mais McGill revenant à distance. En tout, le score a changé neuf fois et il y a eu égalité à sept reprises avant que Bishop's ne tienne tête aux Marlets et ne décroche son billet pour le Championnat du RSEQ.
 
Le match de samedi à Québec sera la troisième participation consécutive de Bishop's au match de championnat.  Ils tenteront de remporter la couronne du RSEQ pour la première fois depuis 2004. La mise au jeu est prévue pour 14 h.
