LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Bishop's Gaiters women's hockey head coach Valerie Bois announced that she is stepping down to pursue an opportunity in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL).
 
Bois led the Gaiters for the past two seasons, culminating in a U SPORTS National Championship in 2025.Prior to that she was the team's lead assistant coach.
 
"We are thrilled for Val and this incredible opportunity," said Matt McBrine, Director of Athletics and Recreation at Bishop's University. "Her success is a testament to the strength of our Gaiters program, which fosters a culture of excellence and develops outstanding leaders like Val. We wish her continued success in the next chapter of her coaching career."
 
Bishop's also announced that Alexandra Boulanger will serve as the team's Interim Head Coach for the 2025-26 season.  Boulanger has served as the lead assistant coach for the past two seasons and played a pivotal role in the team's championship run this past winter.
 
"We have full confidence in Alexandra," McBrine added.  "She is a transformational coach, someone who truly cares about the players and we are certain she will do an excellent job."

Valerie Bois quitte son poste d'entraîneure-chef du hockey féminin des Gaiters pour rejoindre la LPHF

LENNOXVILLE, Québec – L'entraîneure-chef de l'équipe de hockey féminin des Gaiters de Bishop's, Valerie Bois, a annoncé qu'elle quittera ses fonctions pour relever un nouveau défi au sein de la Ligue professionnelle de hockey féminin (LPHF).
 
Bois a dirigé les Gaiters au cours des deux dernières saisons, menant l'équipe à un championnat national U SPORTS en 2025. Elle avait auparavant occupé le poste d'entraîneuse adjointe principale.
 
« Nous sommes ravis pour Val et cette opportunité exceptionnelle », a déclaré Matt McBrine, directeur des sports et loisirs à l'Université Bishop's. « Son départ témoigne de la qualité des entraîneurs que nous avons au sein du programme des Gaiters. Nous avons une culture forte qui forme des leaders remarquables comme Val. Nous lui souhaitons beaucoup de succès dans cette nouvelle étape de sa carrière. »
 
L'Université Bishop's a également annoncé qu'Alexandra Boulanger assurera l'intérim au poste d'entraîneuse-chef pour la saison 2025-2026. Boulanger a été entraîneuse adjointe principale au cours des deux dernières saisons et a joué un rôle clé dans la conquête du titre cet hiver.
 
« Nous avons une confiance totale en Alexandra », a ajouté McBrine. « C'est une entraîneuse transformationnelle, profondément investie dans le développement de ses joueuses, et nous sommes convaincus qu'elle saura diriger l'équipe avec passion et intégrité. »
 
La composition complète du personnel d'entraîneurs sera annoncée dans les prochaines semaines.
