SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team has a pair of big games this weekend. They will face Montreal on Friday in Montreal and then return home to play Laval on Sunday. The lacrosse team will also be travelling this weekend to Trent University on Saturday and Queen's University on Sunday. Women's rugby will face off against the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa.
After coming of a fantastic opening weekend the Gaiters women's soccer team (2-0) will face a tough challenge against a No. 6 Carabins team (2-0) in Montreal on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Bishop's fell to Montreal twice last year. Montreal has faced McGill and Concordia so far winning both 1-0. The Gaiters will return home on Sunday for another afternoon soccer match this time against Laval (2-0). Kick off is at 1 p.m. Laval took down the Gaiters last year on two occasions and so far this year has beat UQAM and UQTR both 3-0.
With a tough loss on Tuesday the Gaiters (0-2) will look to Sunday and a tilt against the 0-2 Carleton Ravens. They will travel to Ottawa for a 1 p.m. start. Carleton's record is result to a 32-8 loss against Ottawa and 51-7 loss to Concordia. The Gaiters fell to the Ravens 69-7 last year. Bishop's will have a difficult game but look to pull together and come out on top in the nations capital.
The lacrosse team (1-0) will be traveling to Ontario this weekend to play Trent University on Saturday and Queen's University on Sunday. After a big 17-6 win against Carleton last weekend the Gaiters will look to continue their dominance. Bishop's beat Trent both times they played last year 12-6 and 13-4. Trent had a record of 4-5 last year and lost their first game of the regular season this year to McGill 13-8. Game time in Peterborough, Ont. is 6 p.m. Bishop's will go to Kingston, Ont. for a Sunday afternoon game at Queen's and 1 p.m. The Gaels finished the regular season last year with a 4-5 record that included a 12-2 and a 7-6 loss to the Gaiters. Queen's has started the 2013 season with a 1-1 record.
