BUSY WEEKEND FOR THE PURPLE AND SILVER

SHERBROOKE, Que. – This weekend five Gaiters teams will be in action for eight games and the golf squad competes in the RSEQ Championship.  The Bishop's University men's rugby team will be on the road Thursday night to take on McGill in Montreal.  The women's soccer team will host UQTR this Friday night and then travel to Quebec City to take on Laval on Sunday afternoon.  Lacrosse has a busy weekend on Coulter Field with Queen's on Saturday night and Carleton on Sunday.  Women's rugby will head to Montreal on Sunday to face McGill.

The men's rugby team (1-1) will travel to Montreal for a Thursday night game against McGill (3-0).  McGill ended Bishop's 2012 campaign with a semi-final victory on Coulter Field.  The Gaiters are coming off a 21-12 loss to Sherbrooke while McGill is perfect so far.  Game time is 8 p.m.

Bishop's women's soccer (2-4-0) will host UQTR (0-5-1) on Friday night at 6 p.m. and then travel to play Laval (6-0-0) on Sunday for at 4 p.m.  In the 2012 season the Gaiters were 0-1-1 against UQTR.  The Patriotes have not won a game this season.  The Gaiters are coming off a 6-0 loss against Sherbrooke on Monday night.  Laval topped Bishop's 10-3 earlier this month in Lennoxville.

Gaiters lacrosse (2-2) has three home games this weekend the first being against the high school powerhouse The Hill Academy in an exhibition game on Friday at 8 p.m.  Queen's (3-1) is in town on Saturday for an 8 p.m. game and Carleton (0-5) on Sunday for a 6 p.m. start.  Bishop's has faced both Queen's and Carleton on their home turf this year.  They lost to Queen's in a close 7-6 game and beat Carleton 17-6.  Gaiters look to improve their record at home after a 12-10 loss to McGill in their home opener last week.

Women's rugby (0-4) will travel to Montreal on Sunday for a tilt with McGill (3-1).  The Gaiters look to improve their record after a homecoming loss to Laval (2-2).  McGill is coming off a win over Carleton (1-3) this past weekend.  Kick-off will be at 1 p.m.

The Bishop's football team will also host the Laval Rouge et Or this Saturday Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. on Coulter Field.
