SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters men's lacrosse team rolled to 20-2 victory over Concordia on Sunday afternoon in Lennoxville and the Bishop's women's hockey club secured a 3-1 win over NEA Dynamie Estrie on Sunday night while the women's basketball team dropped a trio of games in an exhibition tournament in the Maritimes and the women's soccer squad lost a pair of contests on Friday and Sunday.
Ryan Dewar (Cornwall, Ont.) led the Gaiters lacrosse squads' offensive outburst. He netted four goals and added four assists as Bishop's cruised to the 20-2 victory over the Concordia lacrosse club.
The women's soccer team hosted the McGill Martlets on Friday on Coulter Field. The contest marked the Gaiters final home game of the year. Seniors
Molly Bucholtz (Peterborough, Ont.) and
Shelby Raven (Russell, Ont.) were honoured prior to the game. The Gaiters were unable to keep the celebration going as McGill won 3-0. Bishop's traveled to Trois Rivieres, Quebec on Sunday to face the UQTR Patriotes. The hosts scored a pair of first half goals that was enough for a 2-0 win.
Women's basketball travelled to Charlottetown to tip-off in the Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament. They opened Friday night against the host UPEI Panthers. Bishop's fell 79-56. On Saturday the Cape Breton Capers were the Gaiters opposition and went onto a 61-51 victory over Bishop's. The Gaiters wrapped up against Ottawa on Sunday morning. The Gee-Gees won 62-43.
The Polar Bears hockey club was also in action on Sunday evening at W.B. Scott Arena. Goaltender Amelie Poirier (Vaudreuil, Que.) made 45 saves as Bishop's won 3-1 over NEA Dynamie Estrie.
The Lacrosse and soccer teams are back in action next weekend. Lacrosse will play a home-and-home double header with Carleton. They are in Ottawa on Saturday night and faceoff on Coulter Field at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Women's soccer will close out their season with a game at Laval on Friday night and at Montreal on Sunday. Men's rugby is also back in action on Friday night in Lennoxville and the men's basketball team travels to Ottawa for the Jack Donahue Tournament.
