SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's University women's basketball team play a pair of RSEQ University games this weekend. They will take on No. 8 McGill on Friday night at 6 p.m. in Lennoxville, Que. and wrap up their penultimate weekend in Montreal on Sunday afternoon against UQAM at 2 p.m.
Bishop's (0-12) lost to Concordia (9-3) twice last weekend, officially eliminating them from playoff contention. Despite the losses, third-year guard
Catherine Rondeau (Sherbrooke, Que.) had a stellar performance. In 77 minutes of play she scored 10 and 12 points respectively.
The Gaiters will meet the Martlets on Friday who are coming off two wins over UQAM (7-5) and are on a four-game winning streak. Miriam Sylla (Conakry, Guinea) had 12 and 20 points in the two matches respectively. Queteline Celestin (La Garnache, France) had 14 and 20 points in each of the tilts for UQAM.
To date this year McGill has triumphed in all three meetings between themselves and the Gaiters. Bishop's and UQAM have not met since Jan. 17 and 18 when the Citadins won both games of a home-and-home series.
"The season is not over for us," said Gaiters head coach
Alex Perno. "We have a process of learning and need to continue with our plan. I think this week we have learned even more and we want to see that translate onto the court."
The Lady Gaiters host McGill on Friday night at 6 p.m. and will be in Montreal on Sunday afternoon for a 2 p.m. tip with UQAM. Both games will be webcasted online.
