SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's University Gaiters have a busy weekend, as the women's soccer team, lacrosse team, and men's and women's rugby teams all take to the field. The women's soccer team will host Montreal on Friday night at 7 p.m. and face McGill in Montreal for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday. Gaiters lacrosse will host a pair of games against Trent and Queen's Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. respectively. The men's rugby team will face Concordia at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Montreal. The women's rugby team will host Carleton at 1 p.m. on Sunday on Coulter field.
The Lady Gaiters soccer team (0-2-0) will host the No.3 Montreal Carabins on Friday night at 7 p.m. on Coulter field. The Gaiters will face another tough team in the Carabins after Bishop's lost their first two games to Concordia (1-1-0) and No. 8 Sherbrooke. Montreal topped Laval (1-1-0) and tied with UQAM (0-0-2) to start their 2014 season. Bishop's second opponent of the weekend is the McGill Martlets (1-1-0). They will play on Sunday afternoon in Montreal at 1 p.m. To begin their season McGill lost to Sherbrooke and beat the Concordia Stingers.
Gaiters lacrosse (1-0) has their home opener, Saturday night on Coulter field at 6:30 p.m. against Trent (1-1). The Gaiters opened their season with a 16-3 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Gaiters rookie, Taren Cook (Rothesay, N.B.), scored four goals and was named the CUFLA third star for the week by "In Lacrosse We Trust". Trent has lost to Carleton (1-1) and beat Concordia (0-2). Queen's also beat Concordia to start their 2014 action.
The men's rugby team (1-0) will be on the road this weekend after a win over the Sherbrooke Vert et Or (0-1) in their home opener. The Gaiters will face Concordia (0-1) in Montreal for a 1 p.m. kick-off on Sunday. The Stingers fell to McGill (1-0) on Wednesday night.
The Lady Gaiters rugby team (0-2) will face Carleton (0-2) in their home opener on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Gaiters are coming off two losses to start their season to Montreal (1-1) and Sherbrooke (1-1). Carleton has also had two losses to No. 5 McGill (1-1) and No. 7 Concordia (2-0).
