Box Score 3 SHERBROOKE, Que. – As the first snow of 2015 covered Coulter Field on Saturday night, the Bishop's Gaiters men's lacrosse team heated up and rolled to a 15-2 victory over the University of Ottawa. That victory came a night after the Gaiters men's rugby team won a convincing 30-19 contest against ETS. Also in action over the weekend, the women's soccer team dropped a pair of games and the women's rugby team lost their final game of 2015 while the men's and women's basketball squad each competed in exhibition tournaments.
Men's RugbyLee Hudson (Sutton, Que.) scored four tries from the eight-man position as Bishop's rolled over ETS 30-19 in RSEQ University men's rugby. ETS scored on the last play of the game to narrow the margin of a game Bishop's controlled from the get-go. Friday night's contest was the second victory for the Gaiters over the Piranahs this year and left them firmly in second place in their division. A McGill victory on Saturday ensured the Gaiters will finish in second place with one regular season meeting with the Redmen to go. By finishing second in the re-vamped RSEQ, Bishop's will host a quarter-final on Coulter Field.

https://youtu.be/kSzpXShhbPo LacrosseJames Malloy (Whitby, Ont.) continued his torrid pace as he potted four goals and added three assists to lead the Bishop's men's lacrosse team to a 15-2 victory over Ottawa on Saturday night. The frigid Lennoxville air led to the first snow covered field of the season, however it did not seem to affect the Gaiters who scored early and often en route to a convincing victory. Bishop's has already locked up second place in the CUFLA East and ensured themselves a quarter-final spot at the 2015 Baggataway Cup, an event that will be hosted on Coulter Field from Nov. 6-8.
Bishop's will close out the regular season portion of their schedule with a contest against Carleton in Lennoxville on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.
Women's SoccerThe Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team were road warriors over the weekend as they travelled to Montreal on Friday night to face UQAM and Quebec City on Sunday for a tilt with the No. 1 ranked Laval Rouge et Or.
Bishop's came up on the wrong end of 3-0 and 6-0 scores respectively as their record falls to 0-8-2 on the year.
The Gaiters are next in action on Friday, Oct. 23 on Coulter Field when they host the Concordia Stingers at 6 p.m. The contest will mark the first ever Kick for the Cure as the Gaiters will team-up to help raise funds to support the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
Women's RugbyThe Gaiters women's rugby team closed out their 2015 campaign at McGill on Thursday night. In a torrential downpour, Bishop's fell 36-7. Rachel Berube (Worcester, Mass.) scored the try for the Gaiters and it was converted by Taylor Merrithew (Kingston, Ont.). Despite going winless on the year Bishop's will take many positives out of the season.
Men's BasketballThe reigning RSEQ Champion Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team started to return to form over a three game stretch this past weekend. They were in Ottawa for the House Laughton Tournament hosted by the Carleton Ravens. Bishop's started well with victories over the University of Toronto (81-76) and Acadia University (79-68). Their 2-0 record set up what ended up being the tournament championship against the host and five-time defending CIS Champion Carleton Ravens on Sunday. The hosts won 88-60 to claim the title but Bishop's walks away with two victories and a confidence moving forward.
They are in southern Ontario for another exhibition tournament next weekend.
Women's BasketballWhile men's basketball headed west, the women's basketball team made the long trek to Charlottetown for the Mickey Place Memorial Tournament. Bishop's played a trio of contests against UPEI, Acadia and the University of Ottawa. They dropped all three but competed in each up until the final minutes. Friday it was a 62-58 loss to host UPEI, Saturday they fell 73-65 to Acadia and Sunday Ottawa got the best of them by a 57-40 mark.
The women's team will also travel to southern Ontario for exhibition competition next weekend.
