SENIORS SET TO SHINE THOUGHOUT BUSY WEEKEND AT COULTER FIELD

SHERBROOKE, Que. – All four Bishop's Gaiters teams in action this weekend in Lennoxville will celebrate their graduating seniors as they wrap-up yet another home campaign. Women's soccer, football, lacrosse and men's rugby will all step on Coulter Field this weekend while the men's and women's basketball teams are in southern Ontario for exhibition competition.

Women's Soccer
The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team will take on the Concordia Stingers on Friday night at 6 p.m. on Coulter Field.  The game will not only mark the celebration of eight graduating seniors, it will also be the first edition of Kick for the Cure.  The event is a spin-off from what women's basketball teams do across the country with their annual Shoot for the Cure. The women's soccer team will don pink warm-ups and be accepting donations for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Their fundraising initiatives will carry over into the Gaiters football game on Saturday.

On the pitch the Gaiters (0-8-2) and Stingers (3-6-1) will meet for the second time in 2015.  The foes battled to a 1-1 tie in Montreal on Sept. 20.

Prior to the game there will be a ceremony to honour the eight graduating seniors.

Bishop's wraps up their doubleheader weekend with a contest against the McGill Martlets (6-2-2) in Montreal on Sunday at 1 p.m. Earlier in the season McGill spoiled Bishop's homecoming with a 2-0 victory on Coulter Field

Football
Twelve Gaiter football players will step onto Coulter Field for the final time in purple and silver on Saturday. Bishop's (1-5) hosts No. 3 Montreal (3-2), the defending Vanier Cup champions. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

A complete preview will be available on www.gaiters.ca on Friday.

Lacrosse
Saturday night at 6 p.m. will not only mark senior's night and the final men's regular season lacrosse game, it will also be the last time Bishop's faces CUFLA competition prior to the 2015 Baggataway Cup. As hosts of the annual championship event Bishop's drew an automatic bid and will avoid playing a playoff game despite finishing second in the CUFLA East.  They will open the 2015 Baggataway Cup on Coulter Field on Friday, Nov. 6.

To close out the 2015 campaign the Carleton Ravens (2-8) are in town to face the Gaiters (9-2) on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.  Bishop's and Carleton met in the nation's capital on Sept. 19 with the Gaiters rolling to a 12-5 victory.  Prior to faceoff Bishop's will honour 13 graduating Gaiters.

Bishop's will then travel to Vermont for exhibition games at the Norwich University Jamboree on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Men's Rugby
The Bishop's Gaiters men's rugby team know they will host a RSEQ quarter-final on Coulter Field on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. However, before they can get there they have a final regular season contest on Sunday, Oct. 25 against McGill at 2:30 p.m. also on Coulter Field.

Sunday marks a rematch from two weeks earlier when the Redmen beat the Gaiters 26-14 in Montreal. Bishop's will start the game by honouring their graduating players.

McGill (6-0) and Bishop's (4-2) will finish 1-2 in their division of the RSEQ University men's rugby conference.  McGill earns a bye to the semifinal while Bishop's will take on Sherbrooke in the quarter-final on Halloween.

Men's Basketball
The Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team will continue to fine-tune with their new-look roster this weekend as they play a trio of pre-season contests in Southern Ontario.  On Thursday night they are in Guelph for a contest with the Gryphons at 8 p.m.  Friday and Saturday they will take part in the Wilfrid Laurier Hawk Challenge in Waterloo.  Friday they tipoff against the hosts at 8 p.m. and on Saturday they will face the Laurentian Voyageurs at 2 p.m.

Women's Basketball
Fresh off a trip to the Maritimes, the Lady Gaiters are back in action this weekend as they also travel to Southern Ontario for a pair of exhibition basketball contests.  Thursday night they will face the Guelph Gryphons at 6 p.m. and Friday they are in Toronto for a tilt with the York Lions at 6 p.m.
