RUGBYS AND LACROSSE HIGHLIGHT GATIERS ACTION ON THANKGIVING WEEKEND

SHERBROOKE, Que. – While the majority to Bishop's Gaiters teams will be enjoying turkey and a bye this weekend the men's and women's rugby teams and men's lacrosse team will have to wait a little bit to indulge.

The men's lacrosse and men's rugby teams are in Montreal to face McGill on Thursday and Friday respectively and the women's rugby team travels to the nation's capital for a tilt with Carleton on Sunday.  Lacrosse will also travel south of the border for a trio of exhibition games on Saturday and Sunday.

Lacrosse
Coming off their first loss of the season, the Bishop's Gaiters will look to get immediate revenge on their foes from McGill. The Gaiters-Redmen rematch is set for Percival Molson Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8:30 p.m.  A week ago, McGill spoiled Bishop's homecoming with a 7-6 victory to claim sole possession of first place.  A victory by two goals or more will give the purple top spot in the CUFLA East with two games remaining. Watch the game live online at http://portal.stretchinternet.com/mcgill/.

Bishop's will start their preparation for the 2015 Baggataway Cup, the CUFLA Championship, an event they will host from Nov. 6-8.  To prepare for the single elimination tournament where they hope to play either two or three games on the weekend, Bishop's will travel to Boston for three exhibition games.  On Saturday they take on UMass-Lowell while Sunday they play St. Rose and Holy Cross Universities.

Men's Rugby
The Gaiters men's rugby team is the hottest team on campus.   They are winners of three straight games, including a 20-12 victory over the previously unbeaten University of Montreal Carabins last Friday. They will have their hands full on Friday, Oct. 9 as they will be in Montreal to face the McGill Redmen at Percival Molson Stadium.  McGill currently sits in top spot in the Gaiters' division boasting a 4-0 record with 18 points.  Bishop's is in second place at 3-1 and 14 points.  A year ago the two squads battled to a draw in Montreal before Bishop's topped the Redmen on Coulter Field to close out the regular season.  The two programs met again a week later in the RSEQ semi-final in Lennoxville with the Redmen pulling out a narrow 21-17 win to end the Gaiters' campaign.

Friday night's matchup will be the first of two this season between the long-time rivals; a re-match is set for Oct. 25 on the Bishop's University campus.

Women's Rugby
The Bishop's Gaiters women's rugby team has showed promise all season long despite not securing a victory to date. They will have a chance to put their winless drought behind them on Sunday when they step on the pitch in Ottawa against the Carleton Ravens who are also searching for their first win of 2015. The contest is the penultimate one for the Gaiters who will close out their season in Montreal against McGill on Oct. 15.
