Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SHERBROOKE, Que. – Reigning Bishop's Gaiters Female Freshman of the Year Noemie Hamel-Petit picked up right where she left off a season ago.  The Magog, Que. native led the Gaiters hoopsters in a pair of contests to open the season.  Unfortunately for Bishop's they were both losses as UQAM got the better of them in Montreal on Thursday night 54-35 before No.3 McGill returned to the site of their 2015 RSEQ Championship and beat the Gaiters 70-44 in Mitchell Gym on Saturday.
 
After a strong pre-season (5-6) the Lady Gaiters had trouble finding their feet to open the RSEQ University regular season.  On Thursday night in Montreal they fell 54-35 to the UQAM Citadins (2-0). Hamel-Petit was a bright spot for Bishop's with nine points, four rebounds, and two steals in 34 minutes on the floor.  Freshman guard Ashley Milhomme (Repentigny, Que.) was perfect from the charity stripe and had seven points and five rebounds in the losing cause.  
 
The defending RSEQ champion McGill Martlets were in town on Saturday to open the Gaiters home portion of their schedule. McGill spoiled the party.  They controlled the game and eventually won 70-44.  McGill outscored Bishop's in three of four quarters while Bishop's showed glimpses of what they are capable of winning the third frame 21-15.  Hamel Petit had another great outing with 10 points and three rebounds to lead the Gaiters.  She shot 4-4 from the free-throw line.  Edith Noblecilla (Quito, Ecuador) also a perfect 4-4 from the line and put up 10 points.  She added seven assists, three rebounds and three steals to her stat line. 
 
The Lady Gaiters (0-2) are next in action on Saturday, Nov. 21 in Mitchell Gym.  They will host the Laval Rouge et Or (1-1) at 6 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.gaiters.ca/tickets or at the door on game day.
