Box Score MONTREAL, Que. – To close out the 2015 portion of the RSEQ women's basketball season the Bishop's University Gaiters fell 69-34 to the Concordia Stingers in Montreal on Saturday afternoon.
Concordia started the game out strong, outscoring the Gaiters 16-6 after the first frame. Bishop's eventually found their grove but the damage was done. A 19-6 run in the fourth quarter by the Stingers solidified the 69-34 victory. It was Concordia's first win season while Bishop's falls to 0-4. When it was all over Concordia had taken 59 shots, making 24 of them (40.7 percent), where as the Gaiters put up just 38 shots, making only 12 (31.6 percent). The Gaiters struggles continued at the charity stripe where Bishop's was just 7-23 while Concordia went 15-19. The visitors also turned the ball over 28 times.
Joy-Celine Bermillo (Pointe-Claire, Que.) led the Lady Gaiters with 10 points on 3-5 shooting and 2-3 from beyond the arc.
Naomi James (Ajax, Ont.) added eight points and three rounds in 21 minutes on the floor.
On the Concordia side, Marie-Eve Martin (Granby, Que.) contributed 23 points and eight rebounds. Tamara Pinard-Devos (Sorel-Tracy, Que.) scored 15 points with a perfect 6-6 shooting in 39 minutes in the game.
This wraps up the first part of the 2015-16 of the Gaiters season. They are back in action on Jan. 7, 2016 at UQAM and Jan. 9, 2016 at home against UQAM. Both games are set to tip at 6 p.m.
