Box Score 4 SHERBROOKE, Que. – Every team that donned the purple and white for the Bishop's Gaiters this weekend earned at least a point in the standings. Highlighted by the Lacrosse team winning a pair on home soil and the men's rugby team tallying their second consecutive victory, it was a positive three days for the Gaiters. The women's soccer team also go into the action, earning a draw on Coulter Field on Sunday.
LacrosseAfter the Gaiters football team got their first win on Saturday in Halifax (
full recap here) the lacrosse team opened the home portion of their schedule against the Trent Excalibur. Bishop's was seemingly in control for most of the contest but could not pull away. In the end they were able to hold on for a 14-12 win and improve their record to 5-0. Sunday was a different story as the Gaiters put forward a dominant effort against the Queen's Gaels on Coulter Field. They were victorious 14-6 to keep their record unblemished and set up a tilt for first place in CUFLA East when McGill is in town on Thursday night.
"We were a bit shaky yesterday," said Gaiters bench boss Rob Engelken after Sunday's win. "Today was better; we played a solid 60 out of 80 minutes."

Men's RugbyNot every victory is pretty, but every point matters. The Bishop's Gaiters men's rugby team was in action on Sunday against the first-year ETS Piranhas in Montreal. Bishop's came out on top 26-12 to move their record to 2-1. They also managed to score four tries and earn a bonus point, giving them a total of nine on the year. Bishop's currently sits in second place in their division trailing only McGill.
"It wasn't our best effort but we got the win," said Gaiters head coach
Charles Goode. "We also managed to score four tries and get the bonus point which is huge. We have some work to do to prepare for Montreal on Friday."
Women's SoccerThird year midfield
Kimberly Fontes (Laval, Que.) scored in the 61
st minute for the Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team on Sunday vaulting them to a 1-0 lead over the visiting UQTR Patriotes. Unfortunately the Gaiters surrendered the equalizer 11 minutes later and the contest ended up in a 1-1 draw, the second of the season for Bishop's who sits in seventh place in the RSEQ at 0-4-2, one point up on the Patriotes.
On Friday Bishop's fell 7-0 to the No. 7-ranked Montreal Carabins in Montreal.
GolfThe Gaiters golf squads are competing at the RSEQ Championships held at the Ile de Montreal Golf Club. After day one of the three day event the Bishop's men sit in a tie for seventh out of eleven teams and the women's team is fifth out of five teams. Rounds two and three are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday respectively.
After a relatively quiet weekend, Coulter Field will be amped up as the calendar rolls into October. The annual homecoming festivities start with Lacrosse on Thursday night. They continue with a triple-header of women's soccer, women's rugby and men's rugby on Friday. The fun capped off with the football team hosting McGill at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
