GAITERS DO SOME CLEANING IN OTTAWA: SWEEP THE GEE-GEES AND RAVENS

OTTAWA – The Bishop's University lacrosse team (5-5) came home from Ottawa with two wins, 17-13 over Ottawa (3-6) and 12-8 over Carleton (1-11).

Rhett Handley (Estevan, Sask.) opened the scoring with two goals midway through a close first frame.  Bishop's took hold of the lead, out scoring Ottawa 6-1 in the second quarter.  Taren Cook (Rothesay, N.B.) and Cam Bateman (Port Moody, B.C.) had two goals each in the quarter.  Despite the Gee-Gees effort in the fourth quarter, the Gaiters took the 17-13 victory.  Eric Mawdsley (Innisfil, Ont.) capped off the Gaiters win with two of his six goals coming in the last two minutes of play.

Bateman got the Gaiters on the board with two goals off the power play, as Bishop's tool a 4-0 lead out of the first frame.  The Gaiters remained unanswered, with goals by Andrew Neilson (Rothesay, N.B.) and Mawdsley, untill the fifteenth minute of the second quarter.  Carleton made some ground work to close out the half down 6 but even with their final push, outscoring Bishop's 5-2 in the fourth frame, they ultimately fell 12-8 to the Gaiters.
