Updated, Women's Soccer: Gaiters Win! Coach Paul Ballard Earns First U Sports Win

Montreal - The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team earned their first victory of the season on Friday night in Montreal.  They beat the Concordia Stingers 2-0 to give head coach Paul Ballard his first win as a U Sports head coach.

An own goal from Concordia in the first half gave the Gaiters a lead they did not relinquish.  Cristina Tavares scored as time expired off a corner kick from Megan Marchei to make the final 2-0 and give the Gaiters their first tick in the win column in two years. Keeper Rebecca Bensimon was named Bishop's MVP of the game. She earned the shutout and stopped all four shots she faced.

Relive the final few seconds:

Next up Bishop's hosts No. 1 Laval on Sunday at 3 p.m. on Coulter Field to close out the season.  Prior to the game eight graduating Gaiters will be honoured.
