SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's University Gaiters men's basketball team fell 70-67 to Concordia on Thursday night in Montreal.
Bishop's and Concordia went shot for shot through the first frame, but the Stingers had the upper hand with the 15-13 lead.
The Gaiters took control of the game, out scoring Concordia 23-17 in the second quarter. The Stingers kept it close but back-to-back jumpers by
Abdul Kamane gave Bishop's the 36-32 halftime lead.
The Stingers found their footing in the third quarter and caught up to and took the lead late the frame. A timely three and two free throws from
Jona Bermillo but Bishop's up by one with 10 minutes to play in the game.
It was a very quiet start to the fourth frame, neither the Gaiters or the Stingers scored till the fourth minute. The Gaiters trailed by three with 26 seconds, attempts to tie it were unsuccessful and the Gaiters fell 70-67 to the Stingers.
Nick Harvey led the Gaiters with 16 points and nine rebounds. Kamane had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Dvir Cahana led the Stingers with 14 points and eight rebounds. Ricardo Monge had 13 points.
Bishop's will host UQAM in their first home contest of the year on Saturday night in Mitchell Gym, tip-off is at 8 p.m.
