SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters will look to end their 2015-16 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) season on a high note.  Winless through 15 contests, they wrap-up the campaign on Thursday night in Quebec City as the Laval Rouge et Or will play host at 6 p.m.
 
Silver Linings
As the season comes to a close, Bishop's knows they will not be competing in the conference Final-4 tournament set to take place in Montreal from Mar. 10-12.  They do however hope to see some of their names appear when the league awards are handed out next week.
 
Rookie sensation Ashley Milhomme of Repentigny, Que. may just be the favourite to hoist Rookie of the Year honours.  The sociology student is averaging a team high 10.3 points per game through 15 contests, which puts her in 11^th place in the conference.  It is also tops among freshmen.  The floor general is also 7^th among all players in the league with 31.3 minutes a game.  Combine that with her 1.4 assists per contest and (8^th) and 18 made three-pointers (T-6^th) and she certainly is a strong contender to be the conference's nomination for the Kathy Shields Award (CIS Rookie of the Year).
 
Fellow rookie standout Charlene Pettigrew is also a strong candidate to be named to the league's all-rookie team. In her first season the Montreal native has averaged 5.6 points per game, third on the Gaiters and is Bishop's second leading rebounder at 5.5 rebounds per contest.  She's also averages 25.6 minutes of floor time through 15 games.
 
Super sophomore Noemie Hamel-Petit of Magog, Que. has been the clear leader of the Gaiters.  She is on the court a league-high 36.6 minutes per game and has appeared in all 15 contests to date.  Her 8.7 points per game based on her disciplined play puts her second on the team and 13^th in the conference.  The guard also hauls in a team-high six rebounds per game, which ties her for seventh in the conference. At .724 from the charity stripe she sits in sixth place in Quebec in that category. Her numbers will definitely bring her into the conversation to be a league all-star.
 
Last Time Out
The last time Laval and Bishop's stepped on the floor was on Jan. 23 in Quebec City.  The Rouge et Or rolled to a 74-43 victory. Laval currently sits at 8-7 and will look to finish above .500 and gain momentum as they head into the playoffs.  They know their first round opponent will be the UQAM Citadins at the Final-4.

This is a playoff game for us; it is our championship. We want to keep playing hard and get a positive result.  We will try and get a bunch of players into the game early but our key people will see the floor the most. This has been a long hard season and every game has been against a Top-10 quality opponent. We have shown great resilience.
