SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters used a late first-half surge to cruise past their local rivals, the Sherbrooke Vert & Or, 47-10 on Friday night at Coulter Field, in the Gaiters' annual Homecoming Game. With the win, and the bonus point for scoring more than four tries, the Gaiters improve to 2-1, with 10 points, while Sherbrooke falls to 0-2-1.

How it happened
- The teams traded tries through the first 20 minutes of the first half, with Robert McGovern and Brock Spencer scoring for Bishop's, while Benoit Goyette and Adrian Charland replied for Sherbrooke.
- The Vert & Or stayed with the Gaiters early thanks to their strong scrums.
- The Gaiters pulled away with three straight tries late in the first half, by Ewan Lawton, Mike Izzard and Patrick Lawton.
- The Gaiters took advantage of Sherbrooke mistakes late in the half, and throughout the second half, where they outscored Sherbrooke 20-0.

- With the win, the Gaiters are now in first place in the 2-3-6 division with 10 points. Montreal is a point behind, and plays McGill tomorrow. Sherbrooke is in third with two points.
- The win is the fifth straight for the Gaiters over their local rivals. The last Sherbrooke win in the series came in 2013.
- The Gaiters are on the road for three straight weeks, and won't return home until the last week of the regular season, Oct. 22, when they host Montreal.
- The Gaiters' 47 points is the highest point total in the league this year, and the most points scored by Bishop's in a single game since a 48-7 win over Montreal on Sept. 6, 2013.
