Ken Beaulieu dropped in 20 points to lead the Concordia Stingers to a 76-55 win over the Bishop's Gaiters in RSEQ men's basketball action in Montreal, Saturday. He went 9-for-16 from the field, as the Stingers won the first leg of the home-and-home series.
Bishop's (5-12, 2-7 RSEQ) took an early lead in a back-and-forth first quarter that featured four lead changes and one tie, but Concordia went on a 15-0 run over 3:17 midway through the period to open up a 22-10 lead. The Stingers led 26-17 after the first quarter, 44-31 at halftime and 57-43 after three quarters.
Jona Bermillo (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) led the Gaiters with 15 points, as he went 5-for-11 from the field and was 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. He also added six assists. David Bélanger was the only other Gaiter in double figures, with 10 points.
Concordia (11-8, 5-4 RSEQ) was led by Beaulieu's 20, while Adrian Armstrong came off the bench to score 17 points, and Michael Fosu chipped in with 11.
