SHERBROOKE, Que – Keeper
Danielle Desrochers (North Vancouver, B.C./Handsworth S.S.) made 14 saves but it was not enough as the No.1 ranked Laval Rouge et Or topped the Bishop's Gaiters 5-0 on Friday night on Coulter Field in RSEQ University women's soccer action.
How it Happened:
The Gaiters defense came out firing on all cylinders tonight shutting down a heavy attack from the Rouge et Or forwards. Desrochers played a spectacular game in face of the Laval pressure. It was not until the 31
st minute of the match that Joelle Gosselin found the back of the net on a second chance rebound. Only one minute after that Mireille Patry for Laval found the back of the net on what look like a rudimentary cross. The second half was nearly identical the Gaiter defense came out strong, but two quick goals in the 76
th and 77
th minute for the Rouge et Or brought the score to 4-0. Laval would add one more goal in the 90
th minute to end the match 5-0 for the Rouge et Or.
