SHERBROOKE, Que. – A trip to the Baggataway Cup is on the line for the Gaiters lacrosse squad as they hit the road this weekend to face-off with the Trent Excalibur on Saturday night in Peterborough, Ont. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
The Records:
Bishop's finished the season 9-3 and third in the CUFLA East standings. Trent was 10-2 on the season and second in the standings.
Regular Season Match-ups:
Trent took both contests against the Gaiters this year. In Peterborough Trent won 16-9.
Joel Wright (Newmarket, Ont./Sir William Mulock S.S.) had three goals and
Samuel Firth (Ottawa, Ont./) had two goals and two assists. Trent was led by Garrett Eddy who put up five goals. In Lennoxville the Gaiters fell 15-11 to the Excalibur. Firth had three goals and two assists and
Taren Cook (Rothesay N.B./Holderness School) had three goals for the Gaiters. Eddy, Jeff Fernandes and Danny Michel each had three goals for Trent.
Coaches Corner:
"We are super excited to get another opportunity at Trent!" said Gaiters head coach Rob Engelken. "They are a very talented team, and it's always a pleasure to play them. They have a ton of pressure on them being the favorites, and we like being the underdog.
One thing is certain and that is that we will scrap until the end and not let up. I know we'll have a big crowd there as we have a large number of families and alumni in Ontario. It should be fun!"

Freshman, Firth sits sixth overall in the CUFLA standings with 51 points, 32 goals and 19 assists. Senior
Simon Winquist (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain-Lennoxville) has 25 goals and
Xavier Perron (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain College Lennoxville) has 22. Wright sits 10th overall with 21 assists
