MONTREAL –
Emily Norris (Stanstead, Que./Stanstead College) kicked a penalty to put the Bishop's University women's rugby team up 3-0 in the early stages against the McGill Martlets on Friday evening in Montreal. The contest was front end of a Thanksgiving rugby double-header at Percival Molson Stadium between the long-time rivals. The early advantage was as close as the Lennoxville ruggers could get as the host Martlets stormed back and eventually walked away with a 40-8 victory.

How it Happened
Norris booted through the early penalty to give Bishop's (0-6) their early lead. The score stayed that way for the better part of 20 minutes before the host the Martlets (1-5) got on the board. Bishop's remained within striking distance at the half but could not put a dent in the McGill lead. The Martlets eventually extended their advantage before Scott scored her second try of the season. Bishop's was never able to gain any extra momentum and the Martlets earned the 40-8 victory.
Coach's Corner
"The girls played their hearts out tonight, we competed for 80 minutes," said Gaiters' assistant coach Tom Whyld. "It could have easily been a different result if it was not for a couple tough plays at crucial times during the game."
Next Up
Bishop's will wrap up their season next Thursday, Oct. 12 when they travel back to Montreal, this time against the No. 8 Concordia Stingers (3-3). Concordia is coming off a 36-34 loss to Montreal (3-3) also on Friday evening.
