SHERBROOKE, Que. – In the second game of the triple header on Coulter Field on Sunday, the Bishops Gaiters women's rugby team were dealt a loss at the hands of the Sherbrooke Vert et Or. The Gaiters fought hard but lost the contest 47-12 to their cross-town rivals.
How it Happened:
The Gaiters started the game off strong with a huge goal line stand that prevented an almost sure-fire Vert et Or try. The Gaiters defense could only hold off the opposition for so long as the Vert et Or opened the scoring with a try at the 14 minute mark. Sherbrooke continued scoring throughout the half tacking on 5 tries' in the first half making the score 25-0. However, the Gaiters did show some signs of life as the first half came to a close with a fantastic try by
Erika Scott (Dewittville, Que./John Abbott College).
The second half was more of the same as the Gaiters defense struggled to keep Sherbrooke out of the end zone. In the 58
th minute the Gaiters struck again with a try by Josianne Drouin. As the game ended the Gaiters almost had another major on the board, but it was ruled held up.
