Updated: Under the Friday Night Lights Gaiters Grab First Win of the Season in Thrilling Fashion

SACKVILLE, N.B. – Football night in Sackville is one to remember for the Gaiters as they defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 32-31 in double overtime.  The Gaiters scored late in the fourth quarter to send the game into extra time.  After an exchange of touchdowns Bishop's and Mount Allison were tied once again.  In the second overtime, the Mounties defense was too much for Bishop's and Vincent Dube was forced to attempt a field goal. Dube missed but Mount Allison could not get the ball out of the end-zone, giving up the single.  The Gaiters stopped the Mounties from scoring on their final possession and took the contest 32-31.

How it Happened:
It was a quiet first quarter with neither the Mounties nor the Gaiters making any major moves offensively.  Mount Allison broke the silence with a 30 yard field goal in the second frame; Bishop's matched them with a field goal of their own.  Dashaun Smellie (Mississauga, Ont./Champlain-Lennoxville) gave the Gaiters their first lead of the season, 10-3 at halftime. Mount Allison took a 14 point lead with majors scored in the third and fourth quarter to lead by 14.  Bishop's battled back with a 3 yard run by Louis-Philippe Gregoire () for a touchdown with 2 minutes to play.  As time ran out, Trey Millings (Laval, Que./Champlain-Lennoxville) tied the game at 24 to send the contest into ovetime.  In overtime, Millings once again scored for the Gaiters.  The Mounties matched it. In the second overtime, the Mounties defense forced the Gaiters to try for a field goal, Dube's kick sailed wide but Mount Allison was unable to get it out of the end-zone and Bishop's collected the single point.  The Gaiters stopped the Mounties from scoring on their final possession and took the contest 32-31.
