MONTREAL – The Bishop's men's basketball team fell 90-85 to the Concordia Stingers on Thursday night in RSEQ action despite four Gaiters being in double figures.
The Stingers started the game strong, taking the early 14-2 lead after four minutes of play in the first quarter. Bishop's fought back to trail 23-14 after the first frame. The Gaiters scored 34 points in the second quarter to take the 48-44 lead at halftime. A back and forth third quarter kept it close between the Stingers and the Gaiters. Concordia, once again, had a strong start to the fourth quarter but Bishop's crawled back to close the lead to four with 11 seconds to play. The Gaiters couldn't close the gap and Concordia took the contest, 90-85.
Rookie,
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que. ) put up a double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Gaiters. They were led in scoring by
Joany Castor Thadal (Saint-Leonard, Que./Champlain-St. Lambert) with 20 points.
Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) had 18 points and seven rebounds and
David Belanger (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain-St. Lambert) had 12 points and six rebounds.
For Concordia, Ricardo Monge had a double-double, leading the Stingers with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Ken Beaulieu had 20 points and seven boards. Jonathan Koud came off the bench to score 16 points, nine of which came in the fourth quarter.

After the second game in the home-and-home with the Stingers on Jan. 20 in Lennoxville, the Gaiters will take on the McGill Redmen in a home-and-home series. The teams will play on Friday, Jan. 26 in Mitchell Gym at 8 p.m., with the return match the next day in Montreal, starting at 6 pm.
