Gaiters hit the road for a pair in their penultimate weekend

SHERBROOKE, Que. – Keep doing what we are doing, we are working too hard not to get positive results.  That is was Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer coach Paul Ballard is preaching to his troops.  The Gaiters enter their second to last weekend of RSEQ University soccer with contests on the road against Concordia on Friday and UQTR on Sunday.

Friday, Oct. 12 at Concordia 8 p.m. (Concordia Stadium)
Sunday, Oct. 14 at UQTR 1 p.m. (Stade Gilles-Doucet)

So We Meet Again
Concordia
The Stingers (3-6-1) topped the Gaiters 2-1 on Coulter Field in mid-September on Coulter Field.  The Gaiters (0-9-1) lone goal came from Cristina Tavares (Kingston, Ont./Regiopolis-Notre Dame C.H.S.) who was also Bishop's MVP of the Game.

Coach Paul Ballard has fond memories at Concordia. He earned his first career U SPORTS victory there in 2016.

UQTR
Bishop's opened the 2018 campaign against the Patriotes (5-1-4). They lost a heart breaker 1-0 in a game they controlled most of the pace but UQTR keeper Gabrielle Lambert shut the Gaiters down.  She made 10 saves in the contest including one on a penalty shot in the 75rd minute to preserve the blank sheet.

Coach's Comments
"Our record does not indicate our commitment and pursuit of trying to get results," said Ballard. "We have four games left and we are going to look at it as four opportunities to get positive results.

"It is an interesting time of year for our young team.  Most of them are balancing midterms and soccer at this level for the first time. We have to put the best team mentally and physically on the field."

Next Up
After this weekend's games, the Gaiters will play a pair of home games to close out the year on Oct. 19 against McGill and on Oct. 21 versus No. 1 Montreal.
