LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Trent Excalibur scored with six seconds left left to grab their first lead of the game but it was all they needed as they came back to beat the Bishop's Gaiters 12-11 on Sunday afternoon on Coulter Field in CUFLA East action.
After a scoreless first 10 minutes, the Gaiters exploded for three goals in less than two minutes.
They netted three more before the end of the first stanza and led 6-0 after one on a frigid Lennoxville afternoon.
Trent tried to grab momentum in the second. They scored three of the first four goals, but Firth's hat tick tally towards the end of the half gave Bishop's an 8-3 lead at the break.
Trent scored six unanswered goals in the third quarter. That tied the score at nine heading into the last 20 minutes.
Momentum swayed back and forth in the fourth quarter. Wright's fifth of the game on the power play gave Bishop's an 11-10 lead with five minutes left.
Then Trent Captain Nick Finlay found the back of the net with under three minutes to go to equalize and he scored the winner with less than 10 seconds left, his second and third of the game, all coming in the fourth quarter.
Box Score
The win improves Trent to 8-1 while Bishop's falls to 3-6 and now is assured of a fifth place finish in the CUFLA East. They will play the second place team in the CUFLA East playoff round slated for the first weekend of November.
