MONTREAL –
Marie Berrouette (Montreal, Que./Dawson College) tallied a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds and
Maude Archambault (St-Augustine-de-Desmaures, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) chipped in with 17 points for the Bishop's Gaiters on Thursday night in Montreal but the McGill Martlets used a 21-point first quarter to pace themselves to a 67-44 victory in RSEQ University women's basketball.
Berrouette and Archambault both played all 40 minutes and were the only two Gaiters to reach double figures.
For McGill, Sirah Diarra had a monstrous double-double of her own with 20 points and 23 rebounds. Charlotte Clayton added 11 points.
McGill got off to a hot start. They shot 56.3 percent from the field in the first quarter en route to a 21-11 lead and never looked back.
Bishop's was colder than the frigid Montreal weather. They shot just 18.8 percent from the floor including a miserable 4-27 from three-point land. McGill finished the game at 41.8 percent.
The win improves McGill to 2-1 while the Gaiters fall to 1-1 in conference play.
