MONTREAL – Sometimes a tie can feel like a win. That is what happened on Saturday afternoon in Montreal as
Erika Scott (Dewittville, Que./John Abbott College) led the Bishop's Gaiters women's rugby team to a 31-31 tie with the Montreal Carabins in RSEQ University action.
Scott scored four tries and kicked three conversions as Bishop's earned their first result in the conference since 2009. At 0-3-1, the Gaiters now sit in seventh place.
Savannah Leroux (Saint Anne De Bellevue, Que./) scored the other Bishop's try.
Down 31-12 the Gaiters came back to even the score. They then weathered a push from the Carabins in the final moments of the game and earned their first result since October 2009.
Coach Tom Whyld's comments:
What a difference a week makes:
A week ago the Gaiters drove home from Quebec City with a positive outlook despite losing to the No.3 Laval Rouge et Or 135-0. This week they come home from Montreal with a positive outlook and a point in the standings after their draw with the Carabins.
Next Up:
The Gaiters (0-3-1) will host the McGill Martlets (0-4-0) on Friday afternoon as part of the annual homecoming festivities at Bishop's. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
